He laughed, dropped his eyes bashfully, bent closer over the microphone, and returned to the lower tone: “I love this country. I love it because the United States Constitution guarantees my freedom of speech. But I hate what the liberals have done to it. I am here to tell you to raise your free speech against them, and I’ll show you how I do it. As the son of swarthy Coptic Greeks, I love that liberals don’t know whether to call me white or a person of color. Then they get confused about my sexuality and my nationality. You know what I love best? They don’t get that I am a first-generation immigrant. When liberals tell me how discriminatory the immigration system is, I agree with them, because it is discriminatory – against people like me who did it the hard way, the right way. That’s right! I naturalized the legal way, the slow way, the responsible way. When liberals say illegal immigrants are only illegal because they’re refugees, I say this: my parents were refugees. They escaped persecution in Egypt. But they didn’t do it illegally. Wait, there’s more, because I was born in Britain, a second-generation immigrant there, before I was a first-generation immigrant here. And liberals don’t know whether I’m perpetrator or victim of British imperialism. Well, let me put them out of their misery: I would support the restoration of British imperialism wherever the authoritarians took over. Let’s start with the progressive states of America!”
